Clinical Supervision for Future LCSWs

What Makes My Supervision Different?

Supervision should be more than reviewing cases and signing off on hours.

My supervision focuses on:

  • Real case consultation and practical next steps

  • Interventions you can actually use in session

  • Diagnosis, treatment planning, and documentation support

  • Ethics, boundaries, risk assessment, and clinical decision-making

  • Child, teen, parent, and family work

  • Trauma, anxiety, ADHD, behavioral concerns, and relationship dynamics

  • Direct feedback that helps you grow instead of just feel reassured

  • Building confidence in your own clinical judgment

  • Private practice conversations, including referrals, boundaries, systems, and building a caseload

  • Social media, networking, digital products, and bigger career goals when relevant

The goal is simple: you should not just be collecting hours. You should be getting better at the work and gaining confidence.

How Long Does Supervision Take?

It takes at least 24 months to complete supervision. You must attend 100 supervision hours and work 3,000 hours. Plan to do 4 hours of supervision monthly.

Do I Have to Work During Supervision?

In order to be in supervision, you must be employed and work at least 30 hours per week to be able to complete the supervision process in, or close to, 24 months. For those working part-time, you can attend 1-3 hours of supervision monthly, extending the process to 3-5 years.

What Does Supervision Actually Look Like?

As an LMSW working full-time, you will meet with me for 4 hours each month. You can complete all 100 supervision hours remotely while living anywhere in Texas or in person in the DFW area. Typically, you’ll attend 2 group sessions and 2 individual sessions monthly.

You can expect:

• Practical discussions focused on real clinical work

• Case consultation and treatment planning

• Help tracking supervision requirements and progress

• Support with building a social media account for individual marketing and passive income.

• Business skills

Is Supervision Virtual?

Yes! Virtual supervision is available throughout Texas. In-person options may also be available in the DFW area.

What is the Financial Investment?

The expected schedule is:

  • Two hours of group supervision monthly ($75 an hour)

  • Two hours of individual or triadic supervision monthly ($125 an hour)

  • Additional supervision or consultation may be required based on clinical need, caseload, ethical concerns, performance concerns, or Board requirements.

How do I get started?

Schedule a consultation call and we can discuss your goals, questions, and whether we would be a good fit to work together.

Once ready to proceed, we will complete a social work supervision agreement and clinical supervision plan. I will also provide you with a template for a letter that a representative from your company needs to sign; this letter acknowledges that you’re receiving supervision outside your company. No paperwork needs to be submitted to the board until after you finish supervision and pass your LCSW exam.
